PassPlay

Good Taste. Less Standoff.

Movie and TV recommendations for the mood you’re in, the services you have, and the people on your couch.

The end of “no, you pick.”

About PassPlay

Escape the Scroll.

PassPlay is a movie and TV recommendation app that helps you decide what to watch across your streaming services, whether you’re picking for yourself or with friends.

The problem isn’t a shortage of things to watch. It’s six apps open, a cold dinner, and a couch council that cannot agree. PassPlay brings the options into one place and helps turn “maybe” into tonight’s program.

Start with what’s trending, tell us what you’re in the mood for, or take a chance on a lesser-known gem. Keep what fits. Toss what doesn’t. Your next decision gets a little more personal.

A Better Way to Pick.

Together

Pass the phone or share a room code. Everyone gets a say, and a title everyone keeps becomes the match. Connect with friends for joint picks, ratings and shared watchlists without handing over your streaming history.

Gather the Council

More Than the Charts

Your Mood Has a Vote.

“Cozy but weird.” “Something smart and tense.” “Not another three-hour commitment.” Tell the Oracle what tonight feels like. AI recommendations draw from live trends and discovery pools, with your taste and selected services shaping the shortlist.

Mark a title Seen It, Not for Me or Great Match to tune future picks. Seen It removes it from suggestions without counting against its style; the other signals help us lean toward or away from similar choices. Group rounds use shared decisions, not just one person’s profile.

The Straight Answers

Before Couch O’Clock.

What Is PassPlay?

PassPlay is a movie and TV recommendation app for deciding what to watch, alone or together. It combines daily and weekly trends, recent releases, lesser-known gems and your taste with streaming availability. PassPlay helps you choose; the movie or show plays on the streaming service, not inside PassPlay.

How Does PassPlay Choose Recommendations?

Recommendations draw from live trending titles, recent highly rated releases, hidden gems and a starter selection. Your mood prompt, selected services and feedback help shape the picks. AI re-ranks available titles and explains the fit; a local taste-based scorer keeps recommendations available while an AI response arrives or if it is unavailable. A popular title is a starting point, not a promise that you will like it.

Which Streaming Services Does PassPlay Support?

Subscription filters currently cover Netflix, Prime Video, Disney+, Max, Hulu and Apple TV+. Title pages can show additional watch providers, as well as rental and purchase options where available. Watch availability is currently based on US listings and can change. Always confirm availability and the final price with the service before watching.

Does PassPlay Connect to My Streaming Account?

No. You select the services you have; PassPlay does not connect to your Netflix or other streaming accounts, read their watch histories, or manage those subscriptions. A Play button opens a service’s search for the title. You may still need to find the title, sign in or pay there.

Can We Pick Something to Watch Together?

Yes. Together offers a pass-the-phone round and shared room-code sessions. Keep or toss titles, and the first title everyone keeps becomes the mutual match. Connected friends can also see shared taste, services in common when sharing is enabled, and joint recommendations. Shared playlists let friends build a watchlist together, with editing access controlled by its owner.

Are Rentals and Purchases Included in My Subscription?

No. Rental and purchase picks are marked as costing extra. Discover lets you filter included titles, rentals or purchases, and title pages separate those watch options. PassPlay does not show live checkout prices or take payment for movies and shows; the provider sets the price and terms.

Do I Need an Account?

You can browse and use recommendations without signing in, with taste and quick feedback remembered on your device. Sign in with Google or an emailed magic link to save your taste and selected services to your account, connect with friends, rate titles and make playlists. Quick feedback remains device-specific.

What Can My Friends See?

Friends see shared taste and joint picks, rather than your raw swipes, quick feedback or streaming history. You control whether services in common, ratings and public playlists are shared. Ratings and playlist sharing are off by default. Private playlists stay private except for collaborators you explicitly add.

Where Do the Trends and Movie Details Come From?

PassPlay uses TMDB for movie and TV details, posters, ratings and daily and weekly trend pools, with watch-provider listings supplied through TMDB by JustWatch. Trending data is cached for up to an hour and supporting catalog metadata for up to six hours. Trends reflect TMDB activity, not a universal ranking of viewing across streaming services. This product uses the TMDB API but is not endorsed or certified by TMDB.
